Internal plant alarm system for GF Piping Systems

GF Piping Systems is a division of Georg Fischer AG, founded in 1802 and headquartered in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.

As a leading provider of flow solutions for the safe and sustainable transport of gases and liquids, GF Piping Systems creates connections for life. The division specializes in industry-leading, leak-free piping systems for various demanding market segments. Its strong focus on customer orientation and innovation is reflected in its global sales, service and production presence as well as its award-winning portfolio. The offering includes fittings, valves, pipes, automation, manufacturing and jointing technology.

GF Piping Systems is represented in 31 countries with its own sales companies to ensure close contact with customers. Production facilities at 36 locations in America, Europe and Asia ensure sufficient availability and fast, reliable delivery.

The safety of employees is a top priority at GF Piping Systems and is also firmly anchored in the corporate strategy. For this reason, regular alarm and evacuation drills are held so that every employee knows what to do in case of danger.

In the event of a hall fire, every minute counts and the workforce must be evacuated and brought to safety as quickly as possible. GF Piping Systems has therefore decided to equip its plant with a siren system from Kockum Sonics AG to ensure that an alarm cannot be missed even in the event of high production noise.

After the successful implementation of our first internal alarm system at the production site in Subingen (CH) last year, the GF Piping Systems headquarters in Schaffhausen has now also been equipped with a siren system from Kockum Sonics AG.

The plant in Schaffhausen has an area of about 15’000m2, where 330 employees work, distributed over four shifts.

For this project, we used three Delta-2 type sound emitters, which are controlled by the AT Global siren control unit with customized software. The alarm system is connected to the already existing fire alarm system. This way, the sirens automatically trigger the alarm in case of heavy smoke or gas formation. They can also be activated manually from the control room.

Our highly reliable siren systems can not be overheard even in the case of high background and production noise, creating a safe working environment even at high noise levels – For more safety in industrial plants and production halls.
