Futuristic Smart City With 5G Global Network Technology

Future - Smart Sirens, IoT (Internet of Things) and Co.

The future of large-scale warning + alerting will be more decentralised, networked based on multi-channel solutions.

The future of large-scale warning + alerting will be more decentralised and networked on the basis of multi-channel solutions. Also thanks to the interconnection of information and communication systems in buildings, areas and supply networks. Entire cities, villages and infrastructures, such as siren and warning systems, are becoming “smarter”.

Thanks to new technological possibilities and IoT (Internet of Things) applications, location-independent services can be provided to siren systems. With an IoT or IIoT platform, sensor data is stored and visualised. For example, incipient damage to alarm and warning systems can be detected and remedied at an early stage thanks to the improved data situation and evaluations. “Smart” sirens require fewer on-site interventions, as various troubleshooting or software adjustments can be carried out directly “over-the-air”. Additional push notifications can report malfunctions or faults directly to the manufacturer and the responsible office, thus reducing important time losses during troubleshooting.

Already today we have the possibility to use existing synergy potentials of existing infrastructures, to optimise them efficiently and to digitalise them. The evaluated data can also be used to continuously improve products and services. We are certain that innovative business models such as alerting “as a service” will gain relevance in the future.

IoT

IoT is the linking of the physical world with the digital world. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the name for the network of physical objects integrated with sensors, software and other technologies to connect them with other devices and systems via the internet. The IoT exchanges data collected via sensors with other devices and systems. Our sirens are already equipped with numerous sensors. Through an IoT or IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) application, the sensor data can be used, for example, for predictive maintenance, updates or to transmit current status information of the system.

Smart Cities

Digitalisation and networking also have an impact on our villages and cities. The approach of developing innovative, resource-saving, responsible and liveable cities has also gained importance in Switzerland. So-called smart cities are concepts that network various infrastructures & subject areas with each other in order to make cities more sustainable. Smart cities should become more attractive, modern and above all safer for their inhabitants, who are actively involved in the development of these cities and their vision. The topic of alerting and security remains an important part of a smart city. Only a well-functioning alerting network can efficiently warn the population in the event of a disaster. Innovation and networking can make alerting more decentralised, targeted and personalised.

We are looking ahead and working to help shape the future of “smart” sirens and warning systems.
